I recently attended a conference regarding Digital Citizenship and sponsored by the Family Online Safety Institute in Washington, DC. This conference heighted the fact that technology continues to change our lives and influences the way we interact in the world today. It was brought to my attention that of the 7 billion people in the world today, 2.4 billion are connected online. Further, 6 billion people use a mobile telephone which is more than the number of people that have access to a working toilet.
Today, technology continues to change the world we live in. Reflect back five, ten, fifteen or twenty years on the influence of technology in your life at that time. What concerns do we have as adults in the world today? We are easily connected to the rest of the world, yet are we disconnected to those that are closest to us? Are parents and adults struggling to connect with their kids in the world today? Finally, as adults, how can we embrace technology and empower the genuine connectedness we have with our families? These are some of the questions we continue to ask ourselves in the ever changing world today.
